Streamit adds Store & Forward functionality to professional Internet radio

With Store & Forward functionality added to its professional Internet radios, Streamit b.v. from Eindhoven, the Netherlands, increases market interest for streaming audio in a business environment. High Capacity SD memory cards can be inserted into the Streamit Internet radios. Playlists, music and commercials as well as job schedules can be loaded on the cards remotely.
Limited bandwidth or unreliable network connections are no longer an excuse not to use audio streaming. Streamit professional Internet radios stream if they can and store music locally if they have to.
Director Johan van der Stoel: We have listened carefully to our partners in the in-store music market. Reliability and cost reduction are the two most important criteria in selecting new solutions. Since we made it possible to store music and commercials locally on an SD memory card, limited or unreliable networks no longer are reason not to switch to audio streaming. We expect that failure sensitive traditional equipment will be replaced on a large scale. The bottom line is that our players are significantly more cost effective.
During evening hours or in the weekend the Streamit Internet radio downloads new tracks, commercials and playlists automatically from a central production server. During the day the device plays autonomously the right program. The content is encrypted and depending from the size of the memory card can last for weeks.
International interest is growing by the day because of this new feature. The hybrid character of the Streamit SIR Internet radios allows the users to chose between operation modes: streaming if possible; store & forward if needed. Should broadband in the near future be available in abundance the Streamit radio does not have to be replaced.
